Stem cell storage (The future of medcine)

Hello fellow Nigerians. I'm not sure how many people have heard about stem cell storage. At birth the blood and part of the umbilical tissue can be stored for future use. This can be stored for as long as 25years and even longer. It has been shown to be effective in the treatment of some blood dyscrasias and technological advancements may even see it being used for more common illnesses. We in Nigeria are probably still looking for how to get mosquito treated clothes since the nets cannot be worn out of the house. Its sad that we have just let our health standard fall so much, that we see health as just being alive. The concept is to store some of the umbilical blood and part of the placenta tissue. Its the same principle the bone marrow aspiration works but this time you don't have to look for donors. Yon have your own matched and stored sample waiting for you.
Its a big industry in health aware countries and the technology is growing. We need the industry to be improved and it starts with all of us. St Johns ambulance is a charity run ambulance. We can start by donating and you all will be shocked at how someone really close to you will benefit somehow.
People feel free to ask medical questions about things that bother you or you are unsure about and we will give you the answer in this blog.
